Architecture came before design in this project. The focus was on the classic clean lines that can make up for the shortcomings of the geometry of the premises and create an optical impression of spacial depth. We opted for the classical style that was somewhat eclectic, but with a nod to the 60s.

before & after layouts
Despite its ample square footage, the apartment’s layout is quite challenging as the rooms are elongated and quite narrow with a relatively low clear ceiling height.
The starting point was luxurious furnishing from the 90s that featured heavy furniture with dark upholstering and flooring that was partially made of teak with its characteristic reddish hue.

living room
This apartment is set in a luxury building from the 1990s, located in one of the most sought-after Sofia neighborhoods, Lozenets.
The goal was to create a style that feels relevant not only today, but that will remain relevant in the years to come, while taking into consideration the latest trends in design and materials.

living room
The owners requested that there be a minimum amount of furniture and plenty of space for air yoga, as well as other home-based fitness activities, so these requirements explain the spaciousness of the living room.
A variety of light sources were combined with state-of-the-art lighting technology to offer endless lighting combinations in accordance with the daytime, evening, or nighttime ambiance.

library
We built a bookcase adjacent to the home office area leading to a reading nook with a window area that is visible only from a certain angle so as not to visually overwhelm the space in the main dining area.

kitchen/dining room
The daytime area was envisioned as a harmonious flow from a large dining room with plenty of countertop space and ample room for friends to gather around to a cozy and relaxing reading nook, and a discrete home office that was not to be immediately visible upon entering the room.

kitchen detail
The chairs were custom-made by a Bulgarian furniture company, while the dining table was made by the sculptor Tony Valchanov to be a perfect ergonomic match to the geometry of the chairs.

home office
All of the purchased furniture is in a classic Italian style. The lighting fixtures were custom-made in collaboration with the Bulgarian designers from Cablelovers Studio.

counter island
The new owner of the apartment is a sophisticated and energetic young woman who works from home and has an interest in sports and fashion.
She wanted a new home for her son and herself that offered plenty of open space, a clean design, roominess and light, as well as plenty of furniture and storage space.

bar
The artwork is by the artist Amenun Geneva and was custom-painted for the new owners to feature their athletic hobbies throughout the various seasons of the year.

bedroom
The master bedroom was redesigned to allow for the bed to be positioned in three different ways.

entrance
The bright vestibule offers plenty of storage furniture and is separated from the living room by a glass partition with a clean and minimalistic design.

entrance
For the flooring in most of the apartment we used terrazzo from a renowned Italian factory to invite in some color and playfulness.

balcony
We preserved and restored the teak flooring, but changed the coloring by toning down the red hue and slightly darkening the wood. We laid the same teak flooring on the balcony, as well.

kid's room
The artwork in the children’s room was again created by the artist Amenun Geneva and features the family’s pet dachshund in the role of a policeman.

master bathroom
The ceiling in the bathroom was remodelled to a suspended ceiling with built-in LED light panels. A multitude of mirrors and lighting fixtures allow for various lighting scenarios to change the ambiance.
