This apartment is situated on one of the central boulevards in Sofia; it is on the ground floor and up until now was used as a pharmacy.

We divided the space into two separate units. One unit will be transformed into an urban caravan to be rented out on Airbnb, while the other unit, which we named Terracotta, will also be used as a live-in or rental space.

layout

This apartment is situated on one of the central boulevards in Sofia; it is on the ground floor and up until now was used as a pharmacy. We divided the space into two separate units. One unit will be transformed into an urban caravan to be rented out on Airbnb, while the other unit, which we named Terracotta, will also be used as a live-in or rental space.

living

The Terracotta unit has a high clear ceiling height which allowed us to make it into a loft bedroom with the bed accessible by ladder. Both the bed and the ladder are made of metal, painted in the color of terracotta, and were designed by architect Anna Colasante. The door to the bathroom is an integrated hinged door and blends into the terracotta wall of the hallway. The washing machine, the boiler, and the fuse box are hidden behind a cabinet next to the bathroom. The color scheme in the bathroom is also terracotta and light beige.

living

The main focal points in the living room, other than the teracotta-colored ladder and bed, are the designer lamps, which are ceramic and made by a Bulgarian artist in collaboration with Cablelovers Studio. The curtains are linen, a natural color, and elegantly puddle on the floor. The fold-out couch is a nude color.

ladder

The main living space is in a light beige color which creates a nice contrast with the terracotta color and makes the room look more spacious. The ceiling, walls, and floor are all the same color – light beige – and the floor is again made of epoxy resin.

kitchen

The hallway leads into a kitchen unit, again painted in a terracotta color. The backsplash and the countertop are light blue and the doors of the lower cabinets are reflective, which creates the feeling of spaciousness and magnifies the light in the room.
