WHAT
two apartments
52m² / 48m²
WHERE
Sofia, Bulgaria
WHEN
September 2023
These two apartments are investment properties located in a closed complex in Sofia. They are to be used as rentals. Rather than having to stick to a fixed budget, our client gave us the artistic freedom to design them however we saw fit with the only request to give them a more general appeal.

living
The challenge was to give them enough character, without using any overbearing elements, so that they would be appreciated by a wider range of people.

kitchen
We decided to design the two apartments in similar styles, but to make sure that they look differently from each other.
The kitchen cabinets were custom ordered but made of particle board.
The main color accents in both apartments are the red and blue tiles that were used in the bathrooms and as backsplash in the kitchens.

corridor
The dominant color in the first apartment is blue, while the other one is predominantly red.
The blue apartment is decorated with a sleeker interior aesthetic, while still remaining cozy and inviting.
The red one is done in a Boho style, but is still cozy and without any elements that stand out as too bold or glaring.

sleeping room
Due to a tight budget we tried to achieve a maximum effect with minimal resources. To achieve this, we played around with the color schemes on the different walls. The bright colors we picked for the walls in the bedrooms and hallways give those areas a playful feeling.

The accessories, paintings, and fabrics were specially selected by the artist Kalina Chankova.
